The Lafayette Junior Leadership Class of 2015-2016 visited the Louisiana State Capitol on March 9, 2016 as part of their State Government Day. The students met Governor Edwards, along with Representatives and Senators of the Acadiana Delegation, various state leaders and Capitol staff. The class also contained the son of Lafayette State Representative Vincent Pierre, as well as the twin sons of former Congressman Chris John.
Lafayette Junior Leadership is a one-of-a-kind youth leadership program, that is a component of Leadership Institute of Acadiana and the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. The participants are high school juniors who apply for the program as sophomores and attend nine sessions from August through April of their junior year. Eligible students are students enrolled in Lafayette Parish private and public schools or home schooled.
Dawn Cole, Gwen Guillotte, Erin Pelletier, and Nic Walts with The Picard Group organized the Lafayette Junior Leadership State Government Day at the Capitol.
