SLCC Foundation Announces New Officers, Directors

The South Louisiana Community College Foundation Board recently named new members and officers for its 2016 Board of Directors. Seven new members have joined the Board of Directors and recently began a three-year term. They are:
Ben Berthelot, President & CEO, Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission
Elise Bouchner, Co-Founder, Excelerant
Roan Evans, Partner, Glenn Armentor Law Corporation
Gwen Guillotte, Senior Director of Healthcare Policy & Services, The Picard Group
Murphy Hulin, Owner, M&H Air Conditioning
Yvonne Normand, Retired Educator, St. Landry Parish
Jude Sittig, Chief Operations Officer, Elder Outreach
Board members oversee foundation operations, set policy, serve as community advocates for SLCC, and assist in strategic planning and fundraising activities.
“I am thrilled to welcome these remarkable leaders to our board,” said Lana Fontenot, executive director of the Foundation. “Each of these new directors have deep professional backgrounds and a passionate commitment to the betterment of Acadiana, all of which will provide tremendous benefits to the board and college as a whole.”
The Board of Directors also added a student representative for 2016. Elainia DeWitt, vice president of the SLCC Student Government Association, joins the board for a one-year term and will bring light to student issues and perspectives. DeWitt is a general studies major who hopes to enter the college’s Registered Nursing program.

Our board now represents virtually every community and industry in Acadiana,” said Eric Robicheaux, president of the SLCC Foundation. “As these volunteers and our existing board reach out to the community, I expect unprecedented support from the generous individuals and businesses of our region.”

The SLCC Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation established in 2003 for the mission of supporting the activities of South Louisiana Community College. Over the last two years, the SLCC Foundation has raised a $2.1 million match for a $17 million Health & Sciences building for the college’s Lafayette campus, more than doubled its endowment through new scholarships and professorships, increased employee giving from 1.8% to over 50%, and implemented the college’s largest-ever scholarship program.
SLCC is a comprehensive community college that serves 10,000 students annually and operates campuses in Abbeville, Crowley, Franklin, Lafayette, New Iberia, Opelousas, St. Martinville, and Ville Platte.
