Styles has guided clients through complex government relations and public affairs issues. From healthcare to technology, he ensures businesses achieve results that directly impact the bottom line.
Styles began his career in public service with the Texas Railroad Commission; he moved to Washington, D.C. to work in the national and international arena. After developing an extensive global network over decades, he based his consulting practice in his home state of Texas. As Texas continues to flourish as a global business hub, so is Styles Strategy.
Styles worked in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he was Chief of Staff to the former Chairman of the House Rules Committee, Pete Sessions (R-TX). He was the Washington Representative for Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., where he represented over 15,000 worldwide employees before Members of Congress and the Executive Branch on a variety of energy, environment, trade and employee benefit issues. From 1990 to 1993, Styles served in the first Bush Administration as legislative advisor for Secretary of State James A. Baker III, where he worked on the Administration’s international legislative agenda.
During his career, Styles has worked with several consulting firms. At the Bockorny Group and FTI Consulting, he has represented clients from all industries within the Fortune 500 as well as small and midsize companies. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Styles was the Senior Vice President for Federal Affairs for America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) for eight years. During his tenure at AHIP, he crafted lobbying and political efforts for the entire health insurance industry and substantively contributed to every major piece of health care legislation during the last three decades.
Styles is a proud graduate of the University of Texas, Austin and avid golfer. He resides in Texas with his wife of over 25 years, also a Texas native. Both of Styles’s adult children reside and work in government affairs in Washington, D.C.
